Visits and visitors are a vital part of our enrichment offer and play an important role in bringing our five enrichment strands to life. At Ward Green Primary School, we believe that children learn best when learning is rooted in first-hand, memorable experiences. Educational visits and curriculum visitors provide opportunities for pupils to experience more, know more and become more, helping to broaden horizons, raise aspirations and develop cultural capital.
Through carefully planned visits to museums, theatres, places of worship, sporting events, outdoor environments and community settings, pupils gain valuable experiences that enhance classroom learning and deepen their understanding of society, culture and the wider world. These opportunities support the development of confidence, independence, resilience and curiosity while helping pupils to build the background knowledge and vocabulary needed to access the curriculum successfully.
Visitors to school, including authors, artists, athletes, employers, community leaders and other specialists, enrich pupils’ learning by providing real-world perspectives and inspiring role models. These experiences help children to develop their aspirations, understand future opportunities and make meaningful links between their learning, the world of work and modern society.
By ensuring that all pupils can access a wide range of high-quality experiences, visits and visitors support our commitment to educational equity, inclusion and personal development. They contribute to pupils’ understanding of diversity, promote respect and tolerance, strengthen school belonging and help prepare children to become confident, responsible and active citizens who are ready to thrive in an ever-changing world.
